Applied Agility founder and New Hampshire Native Announces Pre-sale of Practical Project Management for Agile Nonprofits
Book provides approaches, templates, tools, and case studies for streamlining nonprofit projects

(Concord, NH – May 30, 2013)  –  Applied Agility, LLC is announcing at the New Hampshire Council on Fundraisings (CONFR) Best of CONFR conference in Manchester the pre-sale of a project management book for nonprofit organizations. The book is authored by Applied Agility's founder and Weare, NH resident, Karen RJ White, a renowned project management expert and Certified Scrum Master.

The book grew out of Ms. White, and Applied Agility's success in assisting nonprofits achieve project and event success by applying agile project management practices to fund raising, volunteer engagement, and capital and technology programs execution. Bethany Sullivan, former Community Executive, American Cancer Society, reviewed the book and said "Karen White knows the world of nonprofits. That knowledge combined with her expertise in project management comes together in this book, where she provides practical advice that anyone in a nonprofit will find valuable. Whether you're an executive, a development officer, or a volunteer, this book is a must read to ensure the successful planning of your next project."

As Ms. White's career took her down the path of managing highly complex technology projects, her heart kept her tied to nonprofit efforts in New Hampshire and throughout New England. She led nonprofit projects in organizations of all sizes, including the Project Management Institute, Partners Healthcare System, IEEE Computer Society, and the American Cancer Society. Ms. White was awarded the Project Management Institute Fellow award for her leadership and volunteer management of the Project Management Institute's (PMI) global symposia, in which she developed practices and tools that are still applied today.

After a life-altering diagnosis, Ms. White decided to follow her heart and founded Applied Agility to bring the benefits of project management to nonprofits. Practical Project Management for Agile Nonprofits provides proven templates and tools have been used to optimize campaign/event planning and management, volunteer engagement, technology projects, board communications, and other core functions. Understanding that most nonprofit organizations are novices at project management, the book emphasizes the agile movements practical approach to "Keep it simple" and make it successful. The book utilizes case studies of nonprofit projects to illustrate the application of the practices in real-world environments.

"In working with nonprofits on projects, I saw a great need for basic project management at many levels." said White, "As we implemented basic practices, we saw project delivery and communication improve, and frustration dramatically reduced. This is particularly important for nonprofits where much of their work-force is volunteers, and keeping them engaged and motivated is often a key to success." Pamela Puleo, FAHP, CFRE, Vice President for Community Affairs, Concord Hospital, excerpts from the book's introduction: "Looking to the new possibilities along the horizon instead of focusing on the landscape in the rearview mirror may mean the difference between success and failure. And that's where Practical Project Management for Agile Nonprofits comes in. For the nonprofit to function and compete in the future, attention to applying project management practices and creating new mechanisms to attract and work with volunteers will be required."

The book is available at for pre-sale at leading online retailers including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Bigger Books, Books-a-Million, e-Campus and more. Pre-order today at Amazon
